My New Color Schemes AND........

I found something new which really surprised me: DEMI Toho Beads! Half size seed beads! Wow oh wow!

They are a little sliver of bead that is a PERFECT spacer for your strands! They come in metallics, colors, shiney and matte!  Whoo!!!!!!!!!!

For when you just need a little something in your design and can't figure out what it is.....sizes, 6/0, 8/0 and 11/0...perfection!

Do an online search and find the best prices!
This is what I used them for in this bracelet that will be 3 strands when finished. This color demi bead in size 8/0 is called galvanized rose gold.
I Love It!

New Jewelry Pieces and Instagram!

I just opened an Instagram account with some new jewelry to show.  I have been off almost 4 months with a torn ligament in my left ankle so I have spent some time on the couch with my beads. I decided this would be a good time to get out my waxed linen to play with. The colors that are available are wonderful! I really have enjoyed stringing beads again! It is so peaceful. More can be found on Instagram. One of my fav artists, Leslie Watt, shared the bracelet design and I love it!
patriciasornamentalsI found this 1&1/4 inch black shell, perfectly shaped by the ocean to look like a sharks tooth and waited six years to make the piece. I wanted it to be special. Hand knotted waxed linen, black lava beads, black Czech glass beads, sterling silver beads and a pewter focal from Green Girl! Handmade sterling silver clasp on this 28 inch piece. $40

The 20 inch necklace is the star of this set including bracelet and earrings. Hand knotted waxed linen separated the beads in this genuine green turquoise and yummy orange Czech glass necklace, bracelet and earring set. I used a patinaed coin for the clasps. Handmade copper ear wires. $70 set

My lampwork glass focal, sterling silver wire and dangles and beads, Czech glass beads, handmade sterling silver clasp, pastel leather bracelet/necklace. $40
Pretty polymer starfish disk ( I don't remember the maker), sterling silver wire and charms, glass beads, size 8/0 seed beads on the 3mm leather wrap bracelet/necklace. Handmade sterling silver clasp! $35

Revisiting Old Jewelry Pieces

I have many jewelry pieces in my studio that I never have gotten around to posting in my Etsy shop. Frequently I go back and look at them again and rethink what I created. I end up taking them apart and redoing them. Some completely and some partially with a more editing eye. It is oftentimes difficult to use your editing eye when the creative juices are flowing hot and heady!   Here are a couple I reworked recently and am much happier with the new edited piece.

This is the first design: Ok. The piglets in a pumpkin photo is just so cute!
I did this design as part of a challenge: https://pattimillerbeads.blogspot.com/2018/01/use-your-stash-challenge-reveal.html  I received a fabulous oceany fused glass donutmade by  SueBeads .

I set it aside as I  got  settled in my new house since last October. I just last week got my lampworking torch set up. I have my jewelry stashes and components/beads  set up on tall shelves finally organized enough to use. And my jewelry design spot cleared and organized enough to use. Tell me yours looks like this, too!

This is my found (and some purchased) feather box.

And my feathers. :o)  I'm waiting for just the right project.

And here is the edited piece. It now is something I would wear. I think that may always be a good thing to focus on when designing. I am going to put it on a sterling chain and maybe a dangle at the clasp.

And another angle. What do you think?

I'll post another one at another time. This post has so many photos!

Bead Hoarders Bog Hop

I always love this blog hop and I AM a huge bead hoarder. Lol.  I have a whole crowded room full of beads and lampwork bead making supplies. needless to say I love beads. :o)

This first bracelet is very special to me. First of all I love the celini spiral used to make the seed bead portion of it. I used rich matte brown and accented those with rosy light brown beads. But the most important part is the lampwork focal bead. It was made by another lampwork artist , Shawn, using boro glass which I don't work in. I bought them from her at a show here in town several years ago. I had  a 10 year old dog at the time that I was very close with. She was the love of my life. She had been sick and had surgery for cancer. I was hopeful that we would have more time together as she recovered and after a month I thought she would like an outing. We went to the craft show together where I bought these beautiful beads. She waited in the car as I viewed all the fab art at the Webb School Annual craft show where I bought a set of these beads. I got back out to my car and my Jasmine and I took a walk through a wooded area surrounding the school. We explored a stream and listened to animals rustle in the dry grass. She thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a big day and went home satisfied. That night turned out to be her last. These beads mark that wonderful day for me and I am forever grateful that she had such a wonderful last day. Don't be sad though. Three years later I  met and adopted another funny, sweet and wonderful doggie that has the same markings Jasmine had and my heart began to heal. So, now this bracelet is a sign of joy.

The next two pieces are made with lampwork beads that I made. They are probably around 18mm and were made before I had tools to help shape beads. So, they are hand shaped and I was pleased with the donut shape but they also have three layers to them. So, for me they were challenging. Encasing is tricky in itself and then I challenged myself to add ( woops)  surface decoration.  First a base layer of opaque glass, then they are encased in a corresponding color of transparent glass and then polka dots on the surface! I waited forever to decide to use them but finally did and now I want to make more of these polka dot beads! lol
Now off to blog hop and see all the pretties everyone one else has made.

I Am Offering Chains To Go With My Lampwork Beads

I have started offering chains to go with my lampwork beads as well as my etched copper components. So many people make their own jewelry now but they don't always carry a selection of chains. I will offer them in brass and copper - antiqued and shiny. Of course, if you like a chain that is not antiqued I can antique it for you.

This is my current selection of brass chains. They range from 5mm down to 2.5mm. I like to have a good selection of sizes for different size beads and pendants. I plan to do this in copper as well.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr...It's Cold Outside

It has  been freezing outside this last week here in Tennessee! And the temperatures have not been as low as some areas of the country. Today it is up above freezing for the first time in a week and I am so relieved. My propane hoses were too frozen to fuel my torch. I brought them inside along with the propane regulator to thaw it out. I got a new tank of propane and today there is movement in the lines and the torch is lighting. Yay! I can make beads!  I have orders to make and need to get working.

But in the meantime I have been on a earring kick! I got an idea and ran with it so I have 12 new pair of earrings in my Etsy store. Yay again! I used a great variety of accent beads along with the etched copper tabs - some stone, lampwork beads and Czech glass. I love it all.

Here are a few. Stay warm.

I love the Warmth of Copper Tones

In the last couple of years I have gravitated to using more solid copper wire and components in my designs as the cost of sterling and gold have so risen dramatically.  I find that I love the warmth and earthiness of copper and it is really easy to work with. Here are a few of my designs that I have made with my own beads and components. :o)
In the first necklace I have layered 3 copper disks in different sizes.  The bottom disk is 1.5 inches and it has been hammered and patina ed with LOS. The disk on top of it has been acid etched with a design I just love. I added a third layer. It is a disk I made with copper precious metal clay. The whole piece is held together with twisted gold filled wire and I used a solid copper chain that is diamond cut so it really gleams.  I tried to purchase more of it but the seller is out of it!  :o(

And I have some new beads coming out today or tomorrow in my Etsy store.

"Everything scares me. When I take a part I take a part because it scares me. I’m used to being scared. I find that a good sign. Life is massive, you need to be awake." Susan Sarandon

What a fantastic quote!  I just read it in an interview with the UK Telegraph Susan gave back in April 2012.
Yes. Life IS massive, I WANT to be awake. There are so many have to do's that take so much time from my want to do's.  But I enjoy myself more now than I ever did when I was younger. Less emotions pulling me this way and that - tugging at me - keeping me at unrest inside.  I never thought I would be where I am now. I have accomplished more than I thought I would and still have more ground I want to cover. My dreams -as small as they may be ( they are my dreams) keep me challenged and awake. Maybe that is the clue - keep dreaming and hoping.....have some waking dreams!  More beads to make more jewelry to design! Enjoy. :o)

New jewelry

I don't think I showed you this new necklace yet. I started with my etched copper pendant  with a  fish bone design on it. I love the tribal feel of it.  I added a dangle with one of my round lampwork beads done in earth tones  and one of my disk beads wired together.  It looked too long for the fullness of it so I made the copper oval which I hammered some texture into and patinaed then sanded to highlight. I wound ball end wires I had made around the oval like a vine growing on it then hung two earth tone beaded dangles from  that.  I patinaed a copper ball chain with liver of sulfur and brushed the tops of the balls to bring back copper highlights.  It is 20% off right now in my Etsy store!

Peruvian Opals! Yummy!

I love Peruvian opal! Green, blue or pink  - it is all gorgeous!  But there is no blue bead like blue Peruvian Opal.  A customer bought earrings I made with the blue opal beads like the one in the pendant. Then she wanted a matching necklace! I made each section wire wrapping the beads together and then connecting the loops on the ends. It has great movement and the beads are SO pretty! I love the blue opal with sterling silver. I added Swarovski crystal 4mm bicones as accent beads. Gorgeous color for summer!

Rain Anyone? New Boho Necklaces Anyway!

It has been raining here for three weeks! We have had a few short breaks - a whole day a week ago - so I have gotten the grass almost mowed. lol
The weeds are taking over the garden and I can't take any pictures because I use natural light and need to be outside to get the most accurate colors.  Well, that leaves me more time for creating beads and jewelry.  Except that the rain makes me very sleepy! Wow!

But I do have a few new pieces finished and more in the works. I have a new series using sea glass pieces - earring and necklaces! I love the boho look so I made dangly charms and used recycled sari silk along with some handmade lampwork beads. The charms have crystals, opal sticks, Czech glass flowers and more.  I love them and so does my daughter so that is a super vote of confidence from her! We did have a few hours of break in the rain so I got some quick photos of new pieces. My daughter was sweet enough to model for me.
I will share them with you even though I want to take more pictures to list them for sale.  If the rain ever stops.....Email me if you are interested in any of these pieces. I have earrings to match! The length of  these necklaces are adjustable at the clasp.

This piece has a soft pink sea glass piece to which I added a beautiful lampwork glass flower made by a friend of mine. I used Czech glass flower beads to make the dangle which hangs on a dainty diamond cut copper chain.  handmade copper clasp.  $44

I love the humor of this piece. The aqua blue sea glass  circle has sari silk ribbons complimenting it in beautiful aqua, brown and cream colors. The dangle is a pewter fish chasing an orange Czech glass fish that is chasing a fisher man's hook which I wire worked for this piece! The second dangle is sea glass rounds and crazy lace agate! The orange fish is not neon - lol - it is just the lighting.  Handmade copper clasp.   $39

This pretty piece is an aqua blue rectangle that I wire wrapped using a clear etched sea glass pebble and a swarovski crystal. As dangles I used a Czech glass clam shell and aqua crystal. The other stick dangle is opalescent milk glass. Copper lobster claw clasp.  $28

Happy Fourth Everybody!!

I want to say happy 4th to you all. I hope you have a great day whether working or relaxing.

I am trying to make up for all the lost posts from when my DD unintentionally deleted my old blog .  So, I want to show you the beads and jewelry from one of the Bead Soup Blog Hops that Lori Anderson hosts. This was the sixth blog party that that Lori hosted and I exchanged soups with Shari Replogle whose blog is http://playswithpaper.blogspot.com/2012/08/6-bead-soup-blog-party.html

I sent her this :

And she made this fabulous boho necklace!

She sent me this super bunch of charms and makings that she creates herself.

And I made this charm necklace. I have to say that we did not speak about what we were going to make. It seems that the brass tube charms lent themselves to tassel pendants!

I had so much fun on this blog hop. I hope you enjoy seeing the goodies. :o)
